Project Description

This project involved the total replacement of the existing bridge of Illinois Route 1 over the Iroquois River. The work included cofferdams, 38-foot piers and 350 feet of steel reinforced concrete superstructures, reconstruction of the roadway with hot-mix asphalt pavement and shoulders, aggregate shoulders and guardrail removal and replacement.

The structure is a four-span PCC reinforced deck 355’ long built on PCC encased piers under stage construction.
